Lost in a crowd

About Love

It is close to midnight and her fingers impatiently wait for his call. When the clock strikes twelve, it is February 14...Valentine's Day...a day for couples to celebrate their emotion for each other. He calls and before a hello comes the magic three words accompanied by the wishes to his beloved. They giggle and pass cheesy remarks to each other and conspire about where and how to meet the next day. They meet as planned and they exchange gifts and chocolates and they get lost looking deep into the eyes of each other, these are special moments after all.

In course of time, they finally decide to take the next step and decide to get married. Their families agree and they are now a couple in the eyes of the ever so judgemental society. They can walk down the streets holding hands and it is okay for the woman to rest her head on his shoulders, she can pinch his cheeks in public without fear and do whatever fits the coochy-koo for them. But none of that happens.

Another Valentines Day comes and all the magical moments she had with him before now appear to be one from a teenage dream years ago. It appears they have lost the charm of being together now. The responsibilities at work and home must have sidelined the intimacy between them. What went wrong? Who is responsible for this new distance between them? The short conversations between them are now more of an excuse with one asking the other to "understand". Then one day he walks up to her and she is reminded how long it has been since he looked at her like that. Her cheeks start to turn red before she gets crushed by what he says to her. "I don't think it is working anymore". With a jolt, she wakes up and breathes a sigh of relief when she realizes it was a bad dream. She glances upon her bedside and sees him sleeping peacefully and she too resumes her sleep.

Don't wait for a particular day to celebrate your love. Do it every day. Embrace the togetherness and make your significant other feel the same excitement you do. Happy Valentines Day :)
