My Jab Story
After weeks of battling my phone's screen, I finally got that magic message. A SLOT! Oh yes, lady luck finally decided to shine on me as I somehow sneaked in a vaccination slot for myself, and that too the last one available. The icing on the cake is that it fell on a weekend lol. Ever since the pandemic began I have been living the life of a dark-age entity as I hid myself away from the sun, going out only for urgent needs. But virus is a virus and as the experts say, we are all human beings and more vulnerable than ever. I had to get the jab as soon as possible.
I reached the hospital an hour early as they had instructed me to avoid the rush. The security staff in place were polite and they promptly guided me to the area where they keep the magic vaccine. I showed my documents and message on my phone to the doctor and they interviewed me about some basic information like known allergies and so on. I was rather surprised at the pace at which they were all working to avoid people queuing up. There was no wastage of time and I got the shot within 20 minutes of me getting there. After the shot, I was asked to sit in the observation room for half an hour. I made it with no immediate reaction and I left back home expecting myself to get mutated (lol).
Ah well, I did not get mutated into a zombie but around midnight I did get the effects as I started to shiver wildly. Fever was starting to grip me so hard as the jab effect kicked in full gear. I knew this wasn't about something that would last for just a few hours. I took a dolo and got back into bed hoping to get some peaceful sleep but I started to shiver so bad that I had to sleep with no fan. On a good note, at least I knew that the jab was doing what it was supposed to. With the accompanying body ache, I slept in the whole weekend, and in precisely two days I was able to resume my normal life.
I shared my experience with some of my close friend circles and some of their responses have left me amused. Some say that the vaccine is fake and just a publicity stunt, while there are others who think just hot lime juice is enough to fight corona. Now at this point, I must say that these words are coming from some of the most highly placed people in society. Well, I'd just say "that is your opinion".
If anyone is reading this, please get your shot at the earliest. You really don't have a PLAN B when it comes to keeping yourself healthy. Did you get a shot? Do share your experience in the comments below.
Until next time...
