Lost in a crowd

New Chapter

I have lost count as to how many times I have signed up for a service just to pen down my words. I am sure I am not the only one who had to go through this experience. As a writer, I am not compiling a software but a good phrase among the endless galaxy of pages on the net, and it shouldn't be this difficult. The reader shouldn't be punished with some fancy paint-job failing to load.

Since I am not a serious writer, I dipped my toes first in blogger and straightaway I found it off-putting. Maybe it was my OCD, I am not sure but even the fonts and alignment gave me serious amounts of anxiety. Jumped straight to WordPress (the popular kid) and I found myself wasting my energy building a page and some extensions to ensure it all stays together. Yes. Frustrating. Very Frustrating.

The concept of simple writing platforms never came across my mind as I wasn't aware of the tech that was powering these pages on the back-end. A bit of research (thanks to all that spare time during COVID years) led me to write.as. The thing I loved the most about these platforms is Markdown as I think it is a fun way to learn and write things note on the go. The only thing that slowed me down was that the platform had some features I needed behind a paywall. It isn't that I do not like to pay for a service but for a casual writer and the society I live in, the investment just couldn't be justified. Years later I am here. Same formula with a different implementation and I am excited as ever.

2024 has just begun and I am eager to see how much I thrive in here. I hope to write a lot more than I used to and contribute to be a part of paid-tier some day. I wish YOU, the one reading this a very Happy New Year :)
